Tackling the Issue

To increase public knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence within the ICAN
service area.. ICAN! is dedicated to the below efforts in 2023-2024:

  • Working with the Grady County Coordinated Community Response Team to plan the annual “Together We Heel” Walk. 

  • Planning annual law enforcement trainings covering topics such as - Dynamics of Domestic Violence, Trauma Informed Interviewing, Strangulation, Stalking/Protective Orders and Lethality Assessment Protocol.

  • Help in planning the annual Victims of Crime Candlelight Vigil in Canadian County.

  • ICAN! staff develops a list of new locations in our communities to offer our brochures. Advocates visit each location with a folder of ICAN! information and contact information. If the location chooses to display brochures, advocates will set up the display and check it at least quarterly.

  • ICAN! staff works with area churches, civic clubs and other organizations to present about our services and information about domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking.

  • ICAN! advocates in each county will participate in Child Advocacy Team meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and OKDHS staffings.

  • ICAN! works with area chambers and organizers at area events.

  • ICAN! works with area school districts to schedule dating violence presentations.

  • ICAN! staff members participates in the Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) monthly meetings in Canadian and Grady counties.
